Garden Party Fundraiser
A Special Day for Helping Children

How did I end up hosting a backyard Garden Party Fundraiser, complete with a hat contest and special African music?
Each year I add some new feature to my garden, which creates a little more work, but is truly a labor of love. It's my private place to express, create and relax.

That all changed on June 21st, 2008, when Jim and I opened our home and hosted our first fund raising event for The Julia Project Foundation.
How It All StartedThe idea was birthed one day while walking in my yard. I knew I had to do something more than just come home and think about those needy African children we met while in Kenya. I needed a plan of action, but what could I possibly do? I didn't have a nice big bank account anywhere nearby.
I asked God for His wisdom and in my frustration I believe He asked me what was at my hand; meaning what resources did I have. I couldn't see any at first. Then it hit me! I did have a not-too-bad garden. I could host a garden party to try and raise the needed funds.
With the help of many local businesses, an incredible committee of volunteers, the love and support of my family and months of intense planning we made it happen. Proof positive that together, we really can make a difference!
