Despite the morning rain and early afternoon clouds, we went ahead and set up what we could in the garden and yard, hoping for a break in the weather. That break didn't come! We had torrential downpours for most of the day.
All Hands On Deck
In the precious few moments before our guests were scheduled to arrive, some quick decisions were made to relocate everything to a dry spot.
The silent auction items were moved to our wrap around porch, where they shared space with the jazz musicians.
The beverage tent contents were quickly carried to the kitchen and set up amongst some of the food. The rest of the food was moved to the dining room table or was passed by our servers amongst the guests.
Jim and I have never had that many people in our home at one time. Every nook and cranny was filled and the rest spilled out onto the porch. We left the doors and windows open so we could enjoy the jazz music.
Peterborough Children's Choir
The dining room table was moved to the front entrance area and the Peterborough Children's Choir performed in our dining room. That was a first!

Peterborough Children's Choir perform African songs
The choir did an amazing job for us once again this year. They had specifically learned African songs and dances to help raise funds for the hiv aids orphans.
Some songs gave us chills. One song in particular took me right back to a special night of singing in a Kenya church.
When the choir finished and I opened my eyes, I was momentarily surprised to be in my livingroom and not back in Kenya. There's nothing more amazing than hearing African's sing!
Hat Contest
The hat contest proved to be very entertaining as each entrant paraded in front of the guests and judges.
Some offered comments about their beautiful creations and suggested to the judges why they should win.

Despite The Rain
Despite the bad weather, we ended up having so much fun with everyone making the best of things.
Most important of all was that we again raised funds to help hiv aids orphans. Our African and Haitian children friends will be helped directly with funds for their educational needs, school feeding programs, and more development in micro-business opportunities.
A job well done indeed!
