Special Party Menu, African Music
Our Garden Party menu consisted of lemonade and iced tea along with fancy tea sandwiches, yummy squares (all homemade and donated) and fruit that included chocolate dipped strawberries that went over with a bang.
Later in the day, our own Peterborough Children's Choir volunteered their time as well, and thrilled us with a 20 minute performance complete with an African song and dance they had learned just for the occasion.

Many local businesses partnered with us and helped to make our silent auction a huge success. We all enjoyed the excitement of the last minute bidding wars on a few choice items. We sold everything that had been donated.
Garden Party Hat Contest
There were prizes for the best hat that produced some fun as well as elegant entries that truly captured the flavor of our old-fashioned party theme.

We enjoyed giving out special Garden Party favors made of small bags filled with Kenya sand.
Most of our guests were already talking about next year with enthusiasm and anticipation before they left, so it looks like we'll be doing a garden party fundraiser as an annual event for The Julia Project.
We had a very successful outcome and are so encouraged by our hard work on this first effort turning out so well.
What a great way to raise funds for our special African children in Kenya.
