Peterborough Children's Choir

Amazing Musical Kids

Sponsored Links

We had the distict pleasure of meeting the Peterborough Children's Choir Director, Maureen Harris-Lowe, while preparing for our 2008 Garden Party Fundraiser.

Maureen is obviously passionate for music and was a pleasure to work with. Along with a selected group from the choir, she approached our project with great enthusiasm, excellence and fun.

We were honoured to know these special students who took time from their personal schedules to volunteer for our event. This was kids helping kids in action.

Under Maureen's direction, the choir worked hard in the weeks prior to the Garden Party, learning a special African song complete with accompanying African dance. They arrived dressed in their Sunday best, and gave us a wonderful performance.

About The Choir

The Senior Chorus Members

The choir is open to all children who wish to audition, who are between the ages of 8 to 21 living in Peterborough and the surrounding area. The choir is committed to developing musical expertise and pursuing excellence through the rehearsal and performance of choral music.

These high standards benefit the choir members by instilling a love of music, offering opportunities for touring and competition, experiencing the dynamics of team building and enhancement of self esteem.

The choir participates in many events and trips each year. When we first met with Maureen, she had just returned from New York City where she had taken a group of choristers to Ground Zero. They had an opportunity to sing accapela on the steps of an old church on site, being the only building left standing among the carnage and destruction of this historic landmark. What an amazing experience for these young people!

We look forward to the fall 2009 release of their 10th anniversary CD.
