The Food And The Fun
Once again, all of our guests were treated to our menu of fancy tea sandwiches, homemade squares, chocolate dipped strawberries, and fresh fruit.
We swayed and sometimes outright danced to the wonderful jazz music provided by our old friends, Paul Grecco and Craig Paterson.
The Hat Contest
Of course our Garden Party would not be complete without the annual Hat Contest, where entrants parade in front of our judges, hoping to capture a prize.
Every year many of our guests arrive donning beautifully decorated hats, usually keeping the garden theme in mind.
We had a surprise, last-minute entrant this year. He's the one on the right!
Our Judges
This year we were honored to have a panel of three rather distinguished judges. Doug Hinan, a local retired school teacher friend, our very own Julia, and local Reeve, Mary Smith.
It's so exciting to see Julia step into a more active role to help poverty stricken children as she gets older and has more understanding of our work.
Youngest Entrant
We also introduced a new junior category, to accommodate one of our youngest entrants, Bridgit.
Bridgit came to the party with her Grandma Donna, who helped decorate the winning hat with fresh flowers. Isn't she gorgeous?!
The Silent Auction
The action around the silent auction tables is always fun to watch, especially as the last few minutes of bidding time approaches. Once again, we sold everything that was donated.
Assisting Children In Poverty
The proceeds of our day will go towards our efforts to aid Haiti, as well as our continued support of African school children at the Kenya school project in Garissa.
